Nigerians have scored President Muhammadu Buhari and his cabinet low reviewing the general performance of his administration in the last for years
To this end, as President Buhari is set to be sworn in for the second term in office, come May 29, 2019, Nigerians have called upon him to announce a new Federal cabinet capable of causing a quick turn around in the system
Though the tenure of the present team of presidential aides, including Ministers, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants automatically expires May 29, there have been speculations and arguments that the same set of people may find their ways back to office.
However, Nigerians reacting to the performance of the Ministers and the entire cabinet of the President in a Facebook opinion poll on Nigerian Tribune’s page via https://mobile.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10156218115458639&id=77912203638, asked the President to inject fresh blood capable of performing into his cabinet.
In the opinion which reached 29, 488 people and had 206 comments, generated a lot of arguments and reaction, which are majorly against the President’s cabinet, the respondents were of the view that the President should change the whole cabinet with the exception of few MInisters, which they said have performed excellently.
A Facebook user, Ajibade Lucky Abdullateef said  Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh and  Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi should be retained in the President’s next cabinet while other Ministers, especially Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole and Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola should be excluded from the President’s next cabinet.
“The Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Transport are performing very well and they should be retained, Other Ministers should be shown the way out especially Minister of Power and Minister of Health,” Abdullateef said.
Another Facebook user, Johnson Dele urged the President to retain the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi both he claimed have performed creditably while he said the President shouldn’t retain the Minister of Communications, whom he claimed has been busy pursuing gubernatorial ambition rather than working hard as a Minister.
“He should retain Amaechi and Fashola and first to relieve is that Alfa shittu the Minister of Communications because he was more concerned about how he would become governor,” he said.
For Akinlotan Sunkanmi, he doesn’t cares who makes the President next cabinet but the President should select his cabinet based on merit, just as he opined that the president should excuse the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed from his cabinet, he said Lai Mohammed would be better as the party’s spokesperson than a Minister.
“For me, I think the most important thing is that the President should choose his cabinet this time based on merit, but if no one is changed I think Alhaji Lai Mohammed should be changed because he is better as the publicity secretary of the party and not in government,” he said.
Aminu Umar Bauchi said all the cabinets should be changed, especially the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau
“Let them go all out especially, Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau he has done nothing in paramilitary agency,” he said.
In his own opinion, Uzonwanne O. Uzonwanne, the president should sack all his cabinets, including the service chiefs, saying nothing is working.
“He should sack all of them including service chief, things are not working well, they are only good in politics not in service,” Uzonwanne
Ademola Adeolu who also complained that nothing is working in the country said the all the cabinets including the President should be changed.
“The whole teams including the President are not fit in a saner clime, if you compare the team with that of fellow African nation like Rwanda of Paul kigame and Ghana, you will see that nothing good should be expected from this team,” he said.
Akinsusi Stephen Tope also said none of the President’s cabinet worth giving a second chance, according to him, “None, we need technocrats this time around not some politician who know nothing and can do nothing about our current economic woes.
“Day after day, things are becoming unbearable for Nigerians, many are unemployed, many are committing suicides, many have been killed due to insurgency and banditry all point to the fact that the heads of the critical positions in the country have failed
